At Ascot on Saturday 23rd January Steven Gagan was given a ban after striking Sacrilege eleven times “in annoyance” in an attempt to get the horse to start the 3.10 race.
The owner and trainer both thought the ban was harsh as Gagan “did not lose his temper” and was only “trying his best”.
